What is Ryoutei?
Ryoutei is one of the traditional restaurant styles in Japan.
It originally was mostly used to serve dignitaries, successful
business people, politicians, and the weathly.
Today, Ryoutei is available for anyone, in various price
ranges?
Ryoutei
traditionally features a highly private dining atmosphere,
by separating each room with a thick sliding door, called
"Fusuma." A head waitress called an "Okami"
will serve you.
Any restaurant that has been seriving food, in the Ryoutei
style, for a long time will be called "Shinise"
and will offer impressive and georgous facilities for dinning.
The longer the restaurant has been serving food in the Ryoutei
style, the more luxurious the restaurant becomes.
